Definition of ShotoClone

ShotoClone

The Term Shotoclone derives from Street Fighter II, who's instruction manual claim that the fighting style used by Ryu and Ken is Shotokan Karate. The style was taught to Ken and Ryu by their master Gouken. Many other fighting games, including the rest of the Street Fighter Series, use the same move sets of Ryu and Ken. These characters have come to be known as shotoclones.

A shotoclones usually possesses the following types of attack:

  • A fireball projectile attack made by the quarter-circle-front motion, inspired by Ryu's Hadouken.
  • A dragon punch attack made with the Foward-Down-DownFoward+Punch motion.
