KungFuMan

Languages:

The sample character that comes included with Mugen, he embodies many a stereotype of fighting game protagonists in his looks, moves and story, making it easier to adapt his code to start making a conventional character. A member of the Elecbyte staff uses is initials to identify himself in the company's site and forum.

Depiction

As a generic sample character, he's given a generic story: if you play him in arcade mode you'll see his girlfriend getting kidnapped by Suave Dude, and after all opponents (which by default include himself, or a clone of his) are defeated, he finds only disappointment as he can't fight the kidnapper because he wasn't created yet. Other than that not much is shown about him - his intro has him breaking a piece of wood with a kick and both his taunt and victory pose consist on him bowing to the opponent, and he never actually talks in-game. In the latest release, however, victory quotes were implemented, so he now makes a few comments that subtly parody either known fighting games, the likeliness that he may be fighting a character from an existing game or TV show as those are popular targets for conversions, and even Elecbyte's long absence.

Moves

Other than a lack of of a projectile, Kung Fu Man has several standard and some not-so-standard abilities at this disposal. He uses 4 attack buttons like a King of Fighters character plus the Start button to taunt, and has good combo abilities, as his weaker normal attacks generally combo well into his harder ones. Movement wise he can run, dash backwards and double jump. Recently, he has also gained a parry move like Ryo Sakazaki's in the KoF series. In most Mugen releases he was given new special moves, and these always have an EX version activated by using 2 attack buttons instead of just one, for added hits or damage. Most of them resemble Akira Yuki's from Virtua Fighter.
